I’m writing an essay for an MBA program, and I’m describing my careeer goals. I’m trying to say that I want my full time job to be running my own company, I don’t want to work full time somewhere and own a business on the side. So i thought I’d say “self-sufficient entrepreneur”, but I’m not sure if being an entrepeneur already implies that you’re self sufficient. What do you think?

yes, i think it’s too much Just entrepreneur.
I dont think its redundant, but a bit over-exadurated. entrepeneurs rely on banks, the economy, suppliers etc. to set up their business and keep it running, so they are not really “self-sufficient”. I dont think adding the phrase helps you out at all, just looks like youre adding filler. My 2 cents.
No; self sufficiency implies a degree of success that is not automatic; there are many unsuccesful entrepeneurs who are therefore not self-sufficient.
No, self sufficient and entrepreneur are not related.
Entrepreneur implies creating a business and leading it.
Self sufficient implies not requiring any help or free-standing.
NO company will succeed without some help here or there.
I would word it as ‘Full Time Entrepreneur’.
Self sufficient implies that you are doing it without any outside help or financial backers, which is not always the case.
Yes. I think that is redundant. Just say entrepreneur. Ultimately you don’t want to work for someone else. That’s great. But, a lot of successful entrepreuners have worked for someone else while they established their own business. The very act of starting your own business and using the label entrepreneur will be enough to impress almost any business person.
Great Luck to you!
It’s not redundant. There are several ways entrepeneurs could not be self-sufficient: their business provides only part of their income and they hold down a “day job,” or their technically independent business could only have one or two big clients.
However, it is a bit of a mouthful so be cautious.
No, because entrpreneurship indicates process of unsatiaied learning and development from any source which can render courage in self sufficiency. Setting career goals need mental ability to assess and understand your own areas of excellence and weaknesses. Pursuing what you truly feel comfortably best with , can become foundation of your search for goals. What you like is entirely different than where you can effectively and confidently perform.
However nothing harm in taking first hand experience elsewhere if you are a fresh potentially grooming entrepreneur. Such training can self reveal to you your skills of profession, management, dealing with manufacturing – materials – marketing – men – money and miseries.
